Managing the economy of rural areas on the basis of small business development

Small businesses play a special role in the socio-economic development of rural areas. The main and characteristic feature of the functioning of its subjects is the implementation of the resource potential of the local territory. However, issues related to the management of this sector of the economy within individual municipalities remain insufficiently studied by both Russian and foreign science. Based on this, the purpose of the study is to determine the role of small business in the economy of municipal entities and to develop appropriate measures to stimulate and manage its activities for the development of rural areas. To achieve this goal, the article considers existing scientific approaches to the study of issues of rural development management, experience in managing the development of the rural economy on the basis of stimulating small business activities, identifies the specifics of problems of managing the economy of rural territories on the basis of small business development existing in the Russian Federation, and develops a system of measures to activate the processes of functioning of small business in rural entities.
