The problem proposed by this work seeks to understand what difficulties that students of public basic education have been facing due to the COVID-19 pandemic that resulted in homeschooling or remote education. The general objective of this research is to discuss the reflexes that COVID-19 brought to Brazilian public basic education, being its specific objectives: initially, in the first part of the work, to discuss the fundamental right to basic education, explaining the concept of education in general, and the devices aimed at its protection; then, in the second part of the study, to analyze homeschooling and remote education in times of pandemic covid-19, differentiating home education from remote education, as well as analyzing some data regarding access to the home Internet and ways of making the contents available. The procedure method is monographic and the method of approach is deductive, as well as bibliographic and documentary research techniques. It is concluded that education during the pandemic has faced several challenges, the main ones being related to socioeconomic means and inequalities, which tend to hinder access to the content and materials made available by public schools.
