Estimation of electrical energy demand by electric vehicles from households: A UK perspective
The paper discusses the impact of electric vehicles on household electric energy consumption. The estimation of daily and annual energy demand of an electric vehicle from an average household is investigated and expressed as the probability of energy required to charge the vehicle battery. A variety of scenarios of electric vehicles' performance for present day and future were analysed using a Matlab simulation to estimate the energy demand. The data used for the simulation are based on UK travel patterns and the National Travel Survey. The results demonstrate that, despite of significant increase of electric vehicles in future, the estimated energy demand by the vehicles from households will be reduced due to increase of the number of charging stations in other locations.
