Furthermore, the incompletely documented taxa Z. qinglongensis and G. mongoliensis are recognized as archaeomaenids. Archaeomaenidae therefore comprises a geographically widely distributed radiation of stem teleosts or teleosteomorphs that is closely related to the archetypal Eurasian clade Pholidophoridae.
