Multiarea automatic generation control using BBBC tuned several classical controllers in deregulated environment
This paper presents automatic generation control (AGC) scheme for deregulated multiarea power system. Initially the performance of the several controllers is checked on three equal thermal area with reheat turbine and delay. Further the effectiveness of controllers is also analyzed for unequal four area hydro-thermal power system with non-reheat and reheat turbines. Various market transactions have been considered for load following in deregulated environment. Controller gains are optimized by using a recent and powerful evolutionary computational technique called big bang big crunch (BBBC) technique. Investigations reveal on comparison that Integral (I), proportional-Integral (PI), Integral-Derivative (ID) all provide same response whereas Proportional-Integral-Derivative (PID) controller provides much better response.
