Internet of Things has been evolving at a much faster pace from past few years, as it is being one of the most funded research area. The development of various forms of wireless sensor networks and the requirement of their being inter connected led to the development of Internet of Things. This work provides an insight of various Wireless Sensor Networks whose protocols and architecture forms a boon to the development of existing Internet of Things. This study discusses WirelessHART, ZigBee, and ISA.100 which are some of these communication standards. Further, this study presents a discussion of contrast and similarities of Internet of Things (IoT) with the most effective wireless sensor networks.
