It has an asymmetric meandered line path radiator, laid down in a semi-circular region. The antenna’s impedance bandwidth is improved via the use of hexagonal parasitic patches placed at its back side. The meandered line radiating element is fed by a microstrip line connected through a smooth tapered line. The antenna has an overall dimension of 6×4 mm2, and has an ultra-thin 0.254 mm substrate platform. It has a 6.3% bandwidth at 28 GHz, ranging from 27.13-28.90 GHz. The antenna possess very high radiation efficiency of more than 90% and a gain of 2.25 dBi.
