Electronics development for the Utah electrohydraulic total artificial heart
Recent developments in the electronics and embedded software of the electrohydraulic total artificial heart under development at the University of Utah are discussed. These include development of a new brushless DC motor commutator, implementation of the implanted electronics in hybrids, integration of a transcutaneous energy transfer (TET) and telemetry system into the controller, and packaging of a short-term, totally implantable system.
