The paper describes the configuration aspects of continuous and discrete event control in a DCS implementation called SICODI, and the degree of integration between them. The communication properties when SICODI takes part in a training simulator are presented, and the communication level between the local control units (LCU) of the DCS and their main concepts are outlined.
