Objective: To describe the exhaustion of nurses participating in delivery of support to hospitals in Southern Vietnam for COVID-19 prevention and control Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted. The Burnout Assessment Tool (BAT), after Vietnameseization and reliability testing, was applied to 355 nurses at medical facilities in the North and Central region participating in support for COVID-19 pandemic response in the South. The median value of the total burnout scale variable was used as the cutoff to divide the study subjects into 02 groups with and without burnout. Results: The nurses’ burnout rate was 48.5%. The average scores of temporary burnout, mental exhaustion, emotional distress and cognitive impairment were: 1.80, 0.91, 0.79 and 0.70, respectively. The mean scores for secondary symptoms (BAT-S) of burnout related to psychological and psychotic disorders were 2.0 and 1.78, respectively.
