SPOR BİLİMLERİ ALANINDA YAPILAN İLETİŞİM ARAŞTIRMALARINA İLİŞKİN BİR DEĞERLENDİRME AN EVALUATION OF COMMUNICATION RESEARCH IN THE FIELD OF SPORTS SCIENCES

The field of sports communication has expanded significantly from the past to the present. There is also an increase in the number of publications, collaborations and authors. These studies, in increasing number, tend to focus on certain issues in our country. The aim of this study is to provide a current and detailed view of the current situation on the subject by compiling the communication researches in the field of sports sciences. For this purpose, Google Academic and ULAKBIM/TRDizin databases were scanned using the keywords "sports", "communication" and “sports communication”. As a result of the screening performed in accordance with the PRISMA Statement criteria in the date period of 2015 (January) and 2021 (May), 40 articles were evaluated. The findings showed that students were mostly studied as a sample group in sports communication studies and the most frequently discussed variables were gender and age. In addition, the most used measurement tool was determined as the Communication Skills Assessment Scale. The results provide the researchers with the general framework of sports communication research and form a guide in terms of identifying and evaluating the missing areas.
