This process is complex in Arabic since the script is interwoven and multiple segments can be fused to create a single word which in return complicates identifying word units for new learners and accordingly delays proper acquisition. Proper acquisition is defined here as the ability to fluently read the text as well as manage to decode word parts formed by the agglutination of affixes.
