Better performance with respect to impedance bandwidth is achieved by truncating the ground plane in steps as well as using fractal slots on the monopole. Further incorporation of the U-shaped slot within ground plane make the structure band notched for the frequency range of 5–6 GHz which is commercially used for WLAN.
