Our selfassigned task was to select an outstanding paper for special recognition. After reading several excellent papers and hearing several excellent presentations, we concluded that just one overall award would not do justice to the array of viable candidates. Instead, we chose to make two categories of awards: best composed paper (based on written content) and best presented paper (based on its live presentation before the conference audience). Even then, we found two equally deserving candidates that tied for best composed paper.
