Millimetre-wave devices for intelligent transport systems (ITS) are among the research topics for road-vehicle communications (RVC) and inter-vehicle communications (IVC). Up to now, the only commercialized millimetre wave ITS devices are automotive cruise control radars (ACC), as those manufactured in France by Autocruise Company. The idea which we are working on is to implement a communication function on the AC20 radar from Autocruise in order to improve road safety, transport efficiency, comfort as well as environmental conservation. The reuse of the RF functions that already exist on the radar makes it possible to reduce the new equipment costs and the frequency band used (millimetre waves) allows a high traffic to be run out.
