Energy management system has been developed where we can exploit the operating points of both the electrical system and the internal combustion engine. Typical power-split HEV model is built in this paper. To improve the tracking of the desired speed set points, Model Predictive control is used when subjected to the input and output constraints. The combination of both the series and parallel architecture is used in power split HEV to get different modes of operation. The combination and split of mechanical power generation is done with the use of planetary gear set.
