To meet the aim of the study, a mixed-method approach was employed. The participants of this study were students who have enrolled in a General English course at the target University. Quantitative data was gained from an online questionnaire and Qualitative data was obtained from the interviews. The result of this study showed that students are more confident with their reading and writing skills than their speaking and listening skills. The finding also showed that they need to learn more about speaking skill. For the students’ need, English for supporting their job gained the highest percentage among the other choices. However, students also wanted to learn more on grammar. 摘要

本研究旨在揭示学生在每一项英语语言技能上的技能,并找出学生在高等教育阶段对英语语言学习的需求和愿望。为了达到研究的目的,采用了混合方法。本研究的参与者是在目标大学注册通用英语课程的学生。定量数据通过在线问卷获得,定性数据通过访谈获得。这项研究的结果表明,学生对自己的阅读和写作技能比对自己的口语和听力技能更有信心。这一发现还表明,他们需要学习更多的说话技巧。对于学生的需求,在其他选择中,支持他们工作的英语获得了最高的百分比。然而,学生们也想学习更多的语法知识。因此,需要对目标大学的高等教育水平的英语教材进行调整
