Placentas of the diazepam-treated females presented dilated chorion vessels and intervillous spaces. Trophoblastic cell nuclei presented chromatin in coarse granules, atypically distributed in the karyolymph, which had lesser staining affinity. Giant cells showed vacuolized cytoplasm and coarsely granulated chromatin.
