Movement-Pattern Model of Pedestrians in Safe-Driving System Using RFID
We studied a new application system for RFID technology to enhance driving safety, with the aim of reducing traffic accidents near intersections. We investigated an experimental system that senses the presence and position of pedestrians equipped with an active tag, that sends sensed data to an on-board device of a vehicle near that position, and notifies the driver. Since a pedestrian's pattern of movement at an intersection is complicated, it is difficult to design a perfect motion-pattern model from the beginning. For this reason, we developed a basic movement-pattern model first, and gradually develop this model into a practical movement-pattern model. In this paper, we report on a conceptual image of our experimental system and the basic movement-pattern models for pedestrians developed for the experimental system.
