Inclusion of Green-themed Serious Games based on Emerging Technologies into Non-green-themed Higher Education Courses
This paper explores the inclusion of serious games focused on sustainability topics in courses primarily focused on non-green topics to promote green education. Using mixed-method research, including interviews with lecturers and teaching assistants, and a student questionnaire, we identified 19 modalities (i.e., strategies for inclusion of serious games) and grouped them into seven categories. While the interest in this teaching innovation exists, potential difficulties were also identified. The findings will be used to develop multilingual green-themed serious games and incorporate them into non-environmental courses to promote sustainable education. Overall, this study aims to contribute to a more sustainable society and better education for all learners.
