Behavior of CuAlNi alloys in different marine environments
Shape Memory alloys are specific materials that have the ability to change their shape and return to a memorized state caused by a change in temperature or a change in load. This paper presents the corrosion analysis of Shape Memory CuAlNi alloy (copper, aluminum and nickel) in different marine environments. The CuAlNi alloy was exposed to various sea and atmosphere influences over a period of six months. Chemical analysis of corroded alloys was performed using EDX (Energy Dispersive X-ray Spectrometer) analysis, and it was determined which marine environment has a dominant influence on the corrosion process. By applying regression analysis, the dependence of the alloy composition and the amount of oxygen was checked, which indicates the intensity of the corrosion process.
