AKTIVITAS ANTI NYAMUK MIKROKAPSUL MINYAK ASIRI Citrus aurantifolia TERHADAP Aedes aegypti
In this study, evaluation the mosquito repellency of microcapsules containing lime peel oil against Aedes aegypti was conducted. Isolation of lime peel oil was carried out using the hydrodistillation method; microencapsulation by complex coaservation using alginate-gelatin coating, glutaraldehyde as crosslinker, and span-80 and tween-80 as emulsifiers; release study of essential oil was evaluated by using magnetic stirrer at 100 rpm; and mosquito-repellent activity test was studied on A. aegypti. Lime peel oil was obtained with yield of 0.44%, pale yellow color with a fresh lime’s aroma, and the main compounds of lime peel oil were d-limonene (33.14%) and β-pinene (28.32%). The microcapsules had an average yield of 47.3%, oil content of 66.7%, and encapsulation efficiency of 87.9%. The average release of lime peel oil from the first day to the seventh day ranged from 44.7 to 65.9%. The percent of total protection of lime peel oil was higher than limonene and microcapsules, that indicates there is a synergistically between the compounds in lime peel oil. The range of total protection against A. aegypti ranged from 85.0 to 98.8%.
