Territorial Administration of a Little Known Tribal King: A Study on the Karbis of Karbi Anglong, Assam

Political organization is the means through which a society maintains social order and reduces social disorder. It refers to the way power is distributed and embedded in society. Political organization has to do with the way power is used in the co-ordination and regulation of behaviour, in such a way that order is maintained. The present study is done on the Karbi tribal group of Karbi Anglong district, Assam. Their traditional political organization has an immense social significance. In the daily livelihood of the concerned people, local administration and social regulations is being maintained by the traditional political organization. The present study is primarily focused on to know about the role and significance of traditional political organization in the socio-cultural and socio-political aspects of the Karbi people. Data has been collected through intensive field work particularly on the basis of case studies and interviews. It has a major objective to focus on, the significance of territorial administration of the Karbi king.
