Metodo : Estudo quantitativo, transversal, descritivo, realizado no periodo de novembro 2016 a fevereiro 2017, composto por 82 criancas e adolescentes com idade entre 7 e 13 anos de 3 escolas do municipio de Lagarto-SE. Todos os participantes responderam ao questionario International Study of Asthma and Allergies in Childhood (ISAAC) (parte I e II) e submeteram-se as seguintes avaliacoes respiratorias: peak flow , manovacuometria e cirtometria da caixa toracica . Resultados : Os sintomas da asma foram mais prevalentes entre os meninos (23%), com sibilos nos ultimos 12 meses (19,2%), frequencia de 1 a 3 crises para esse sintoma (26,9%) no mesmo periodo, enquanto a presenca de rinite foi mais prevalente nas meninas (32,1%). Valores obtidos do Pico de Fluxo Expiratorio (PFE) foram inferiores aos preditos (p=0,0001). Na cirtometria, a inspiracao e expiracao maxima foram estatisticamente significantes, porem, no pos-teste, verificou-se nao haver diferenca entre regiao axilar e regiao xifoide. Os valores obtidos na Pressao Expiratoria Maxima (PEmax) (p=0,0001) e Pressao Inspiratoria Maxima (PImax) (p=<0,0001) foram inferiores aos previstos. Conclusao: A presenca de rinite foi mais prevalente no sexo feminino, e os sintomas de asma no sexo masculino. O PFE foi inferior aos valores previstos. A inexistencia de padronizacao de tecnicas para avaliacao e valores preditivos para pressoes respiratorias maximas (PRM) e cirtometria em criancas e adolescentes inviabiliza uma comparacao fidedigna com os resultados encontrados.
