During the power capacitor switching large spikes of voltage and current appears which exists for less time in the system. A magnitude of such spikes is much greater than that of the ordinary current and voltage in the steady state system. During the switching of capacitor bank such spikes will occurs which tends to damage the equipments and reduces the lifespan of capacitor banks. Therefore to mitigate these spikes from the system a resistive capacitive switching technique is used.
