There is a wide variety of ways to incorporate art in transit systems. The article includes an interview with sculptor Brad Oldham who explains the special requirements of transit art, including its “touchability.” The article also describes how different agencies have incorporated art into their systems, including poetry contests, work with community organizations such as Boys and Girls Club, Big Brothers, Big Sisters, or the local botanical garden, and the use of various grant programs such as the National Endowment for the Arts and local versions.
