A Proposal to Build and Design an Educational Software Program to Teach the Basic Skills of Arabic Calligraphy
Calligraphy is the first art of the Arabic language, which is one of the most widely spoken languages in the world, by more than 422 million people around the world. More than 12 major languages and other some languages, including micro-branching, are written in Arabic letters. Several million Muslims consider it as a part of their faith, away from the local national languages. This research aims to propose an educational software program that learns the basic skills of writing Arabic "Riqaa" script, using modern communication methods, to encourage new generations learning the art of calligraphy. The proposal presented specifications of the basic tools needed for training, namely: the electronic calligraphy writing pen, the electronic board, in addition to the characterization of the nature of the educational software which will be designed in two phases: Teaching and learning phase, and the evaluation phase. Many important recommendations are included in the paper to pay more attention to the art of calligraphy and the dissemination of aesthetics as one of the sources of cultural pride, and one of the most important pillars to build the cultural identity of Muslims.
