Image compression is a significant toolto reduce the redundancies and irrelevant informationof the image for efficient archival and fast transmission. The paper provides the state-of-the-art survey fornon-ROI (i.e. lossless) and ROI based (i.e. hybrid region of interest)techniques available in the area of medical image compression.
