A case of a giant mediastinal thymic atypical carcinoid tumor
Thymic carcinoids are exceedingly rare malignant tumors of the mediastinum. Surgery plays an essential role in the management of this type of tumor as well as in the treatment of recurrent or metastatic disease. We present the case of a 44-year-old man with a giant mediastinal thymic atypical carcinoid tumor. Tumor excision was performed by clamshell incision. Diagnosis and surgical treatment are discussed.
