The lectotype of Larinus lineatus Gyllenhal, 1835 is designated and the species is designated as type species of Capelarinus as Capelarinus lineatus (Gyllenhal) comb. nov. A key to the species and images showing distinctive morphological characters are presented. The only known host plant association is Cullumia reticulata (L.)
