However, participants reported a moderately high cognitive load. Comparison with a neutral response to ITEM suggested that users had a significantly higher user experience (<i>p</i> <  0.05) in all domains. This case study highlights the potential of VR in healthcare education and its application in sepsis management. The findings suggest that the instructional design principles used in the VR application can effectively engage learners and provide a realistic learning experience.
