A critical analysis of Western approaches to the study of the features of the national model of the Chinese economy is proposed. The fundamental principle of the formation of the Chinese national economic model — “democratic centralism” is considered. The article focuses on the analysis of the demographic factor of the formation of the Chinese economic model. In particular, his assessment from the point of view of the theory of “human capital”. The authors propose to assess the consequences of large-scale investments in the education and healthcare system in China from the standpoint of capitalization of the demographic factor and a critical assessment of the “demographic dividend”. Much attention is paid to the insufficiently analyzed features of the tax policy of the People's Republic of China. An assessment of the specifics of structural policy in the field of industrial policy implementation is given.
