Introduction

COVID-19 disease can generate changes both physically and psychologically that can alter the quality of patients who suffered from the disease. Pulmonary rehabilitation has been recommended as an intervention that can be useful in the recovery of patients with respiratory diseases such as COVID-19. However, information is currently still limited.

Objective

To identify in the available literature the impact of pulmonary rehabilitation on quality of life, anxiety and depression in patients who suffered from COVID-19.

Materials and methods

A systematic review was carried out to synthesize the evidence that reports the effect of pulmonary rehabilitation on the respiratory functionality and quality of life of post-COVID-19 patients; The search was carried out in the PubMed, BVS and Chochrane databases, using the MeSH and DeCS descriptors of COVID-19, SARS CoV-2, Rehabilitation, Dyspnea, Spirometry and quality of life and additionally natural terms according to the outcomes of interest. The period established for the search was January 2020 to May 2022.

Results

7 studies evaluating the impact of pulmonary rehabilitation on quality of life, anxiety and depression in post-COVID-19 patients were included.

Conclusion

Pulmonary rehabilitation can be considered an intervention that positively impacts the quality of life, anxiety and depression of patients with a history of COVID-19.
