There are four main sub-skills that were the main focus of this study: fluency, accuracy, comprehensibility, and pragmatic competence. The participants of the present study were first-year secondary school students. Two intact classes were chosen at random from Hest Berma Secondary School in El-Gharbia Governorate in the school year 2021/2022. The sample of the study was assigned into two groups: one experimental group and one control group. The tools of the study were a pre /post-speaking test that was administered to measure first-year secondary students' speaking skills and audio portfolios. The data collected were statistically analyzed using the T-test in addition to the ANCOVA test.
