Fimoviruses are transmitted to plants by eriophyid mites and induce characteristic cytopathologies in their host plants, including double membrane-bound bodies in the cytoplasm of virus-infected cells. Most fimoviruses infect dicotyledonous plants, and many cause serious disease epidemics.
