Visual Decision Support for Curriculum Development Using the UGVA Method
Abstract
This article presents an approach to comparing, evaluating, and improving curricula and provides a model of the parameterization of the curriculum with respect to key professional skills. To provide data concentration and analysis, we have used the method of unified graphic visualization of activity (UGVA method). We describe the results of the analysis of 36 curricula for the Russian academic speciality System Analysis and Control. The images created using the described method allowed us to summarize evaluation data for curricula, identifying differences across teaching students and best practices. After comparing the selected curriculum with others in UGVA notation, we developed recommendations for changing the curriculum structures regarding courses that developed key professional skills. General recommendations on the use of the method in decision-making are given.
