A generation-selection hybrid design algorithm to follow prescribed reconfigurable paths is proposed, and a minimum energy path (MEP) finding method to guide actuation to switch between different kinematic paths is developed. Four design examples with 2–3 reconfigurable paths and their experiments are presented, and the effectiveness of this method is verified.
