Berdirinya Palang Merah Indonesia Cabang Yogyakarta Tahun 1945

This research aims to reveal the background to the establishment of the Yogyakarta Branch of the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) during the Second War of Independence in Yogyakarta. This is interesting to study because the entire Indonesian nation is trying to maintain its independence from the Second Dutch Military Aggression on December 19, 1948. The method used to obtain data and information is by collecting books, archives, and interviews with former PMI members in the Second War of Independence in Yogyakarta. Data processing for this writing is based on a historical approach. This was deliberately chosen because it will reveal more about the founding of PMI during the Second War of Independence in Yogyakarta. Data obtained from various sources is selected and source critique is carried out and arranged in factual relationships to form an understanding which is then expressed in narrative descriptive writing. The research results show that the PMI Yogyakarta Branch was founded because it wanted to play a major role in humanitarian missions by helping war victims resulting from the Dutch II military aggression against the city of Yogyakarta in 1948-1949.
