[Clinical and scientific value of the Hungarian Myocardial Infarction Registry].
The authors summarize the most important data on creating and operating the Hungarian Myocardial Infarction Registry. The online system is mandatory for all healthcare providers who treat patients with acute myocardial infarction or diagnosed during a pathological examination. We currently have data on 153 055 patients in the registry database. 47% of the registered events were ST-elevation (STEMI), while 53% were non-ST-elevation (NSTEMI) myocardial infarctions. In recent years, the registry database’s completeness was 88–93% compared to the reimbursed treatments. Percutaneous coronary intervention was performed in 82.8% of STEMI patients and 58.2% of NSTEMI patients. The rate of rehabilitation of patients falls short of what is desired, as currently organized rehabilitation treatment only takes place in inpatient institutions. 45.2% of STEMI patients and 29% of NSTEMI patients received institutional rehabilitation care. In 2022, the total one-year mortality was 21.9% for STEMI and 24.5% for NSTEMI infarction. If the coronary intervention was performed, the mortality was significantly lower, 17.1% and 14.4%, respectively. The Hungarian Myocardial Infarction Registry is an essential tool for ensuring the quality of patient care while simultaneously creating the possibility of epidemiological research.
