More recent developments suggest Mediator functions as a link between transcription regulation, genome organisation and DNA repair mechanisms including nucleotide excision repair, base excision repair, and homologous recombination. Dysfunctions of these processes are frequently associated with human pathologies, and growing evidence shows Mediator involvement in cancers, neurological, metabolic and infectious diseases.
