For the project of drawing a real distinction between living and non‐living beings cannot but appeal to strongly emergent powers. I also clarify what I mean by “strongly emergent powers”. And I fully develop and illustrate my argument. Subsequently, I examine no less than 17 possible reactions to my argument.
