Control education opportunities from Object-Oriented Modelling and Simulation
Object oriented Modelling and Simulation is steadily gaining importance in control engineering, bringing about both new design paradigms and new software tools to support their realisation. Such a rapidly evolving scenario entails innovation opportunities (hence challenges) also from the control education standpoint. These include teaching aids in the strict sense of the term, suitable for both in-presence activities and for deployment over the network, but also more general considerations about how to structure the pedagogy and the teaching activity. This paper discusses the above matter based on the author's experience over the last years, attempting to distil some useful ideas for the control education community.
