These elections saw two different populist parties triumph with significant margins: the FarmerCitizenMovement/<i>BoerBurgerBeweging</i> won the provincial elections, while the radical right-wing populist Party for Freedom/<i>Partij voor de Vrijheid</i> secured a landslide victory in the parliamentary elections.
