A facile visible-light-induced photocatalytic cascade difluoromethylation cyclization of bromodifluoroacetamides and subsequent carbo-thioesterification is described. This protocol allows efficient access to a variety of valuable CF2-containing γ-lactams in moderate to excellent yields under mild conditions.
