Our deepest gratitude goes to our reviewers, who are the backbone of our publication. Your tireless dedication to providing high-quality, insightful reviews is invaluable. We understand that reviewing is time-intensive and often unglamorous, but your efforts are crucial in enhancing the quality of manuscripts and advancing orthopaedic and sports medicine research.

We recognize that the best authors often provide the best reviews. Reviewing not only improves the quality of submissions but also helps reviewers grow the necessary skills to excel as authors. To all our reviewers, thank you for your contributions, and we look forward to your continued excellence in both roles. For the less experienced reviewers, we have published some tips and tricks for becoming a reviewer role model [1].

KSSTA continues to hold its position as a top and scientifically respected journal. With a steady impact factor exceeding 3 and consistent Top-10 rankings in Sports Sciences and Orthopaedics, we are confident about the future. While we were pleased with our performance, we recognize the need to push further, aiming for even higher-quality papers and stronger editorial processes. Therefore, we have put strong effort in giving guidance for better research quality for numerous different scientific article categories [2-4].

Our acceptance rate remains rigorous, with 70%–80% of manuscripts rejected, often through a ‘rapid reject’ process. This ensures timely feedback for authors and maintains the journal's standards. Manuscripts lacking scientific novelty, originality, statistical rigour, or clinical significance continue to be the most common reasons for rejection. We appreciate the understanding and professionalism of our authors in this process.

It is our clear aim to build a strong and influential European-based journal, which is the primary target journal for every researcher in the field. Only when we primarily think about publishing our best research in our journal we will thrive and be able to take up the competition with mainly US-based journals.

In 2024, we saw a record of approximately 2000 submissions, a significant increase from previous years. This growth is a testament to KSSTA's strong reputation. It also underlines the increasing workload for our Editors and the Editorial Office. To cope with the increased workload, we continue to refine our editorial processes to ensure efficiency while maintaining the quality of our publications. Thus, in the second half of 2025 we will move to a new more efficient and user-friendly editorial manager system.

We will also increase the editorial board starting from the beginning of 2025. It is our idea to bring in new ideas, more diversity, a better regional representation, more scientific excellence by adding more key opinion leaders to the KSSTA team.

As the publishing landscape evolves, KSSTA is adapting to ensure accessibility and relevance. With the strong representation of Wiley in China and the USA we believe that we can strengthen our visibility in the emerging Asian as well as the strong US scientific community. Moreover, the growing numbers of transformative agreements will allow us to take up the discussions about hybrid and open-access models in the future.

As we approach 2025, we reaffirm our dedication to fostering excellence in orthopaedic and sports medicine research. The year ahead promises continued innovation including AI tools helping our authors but also the editorial team, an increased collaboration between our flagship journals (KSSTA and Journal of Experimental Orthopaedics [JEO]) and initiatives to strengthen our scientific community such as the KSSTA/JEO rising stars programme, which aims to select the best reviewers and prospective editorial board and team members. We also aim to offer education and training to shape the next generation of our journal leadership [5-10].

We want to sincerely thank our readers, authors, and reviewers for their unwavering support and contributions to KSSTA. Your commitment drives the success of KSSTA. We wish you a peaceful holiday season and a productive, fulfilling, and scientifically rewarding year ahead.

We extend our sincere gratitude to our reviewers for their exceptional work and dedication. Your contributions remain the foundation of KSSTA's success. Embracing the opportunities of 2025: Shaping the future of KSSTA
As 2025 begins, we reflect on another year of progress and extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone involved in making Knee Surgery, Sports Traumatology, Arthroscropy (KSSTA) such an outstanding scientific journal in the field of sport traumatology, knee surgery and arthroscopy.
Thank you for your invaluable service.
期刊介绍:
Few other areas of orthopedic surgery and traumatology have undergone such a dramatic evolution in the last 10 years as knee surgery, arthroscopy and sports traumatology. Ranked among the top 33% of journals in both Orthopedics and Sports Sciences, the goal of this European journal is to publish papers about innovative knee surgery, sports trauma surgery and arthroscopy. Each issue features a series of peer-reviewed articles that deal with diagnosis and management and with basic research. Each issue also contains at least one review article about an important clinical problem. Case presentations or short notes about technical innovations are also accepted for publication.
The articles cover all aspects of knee surgery and all types of sports trauma; in addition, epidemiology, diagnosis, treatment and prevention, and all types of arthroscopy (not only the knee but also the shoulder, elbow, wrist, hip, ankle, etc.) are addressed. Articles on new diagnostic techniques such as MRI and ultrasound and high-quality articles about the biomechanics of joints, muscles and tendons are included. Although this is largely a clinical journal, it is also open to basic research with clinical relevance.
Because the journal is supported by a distinguished European Editorial Board, assisted by an international Advisory Board, you can be assured that the journal maintains the highest standards.
