The complex exhibits a distorted octa-hedral coordination geometry. The Fe<sup>2+</sup> ion is located on an inversion centre. The octa-hedral FeN<sub>6</sub> coordination sphere is composed of bidentate quinoline-8-amine in the equatorial sites while the axial sites are occupied by 1,1,3,3-tetra-cyano-2-meth-oxy-propenide anions.
