In this study an attempt was made to measure attitudes that women hold about menopause and the knowledge base women have on menopause. Their sources of information on health matters and persons they considered supportive were also examined. A survey was conducted by means of an anonymous questionnaire given to 250 women; 130 were returned. The results of the survey showed a low positive correlation between attitude toward and knowledge of menopause. A relationship was also shown to exist between knowledge level and income level, with women in the upper income level showing a better knowledge level. A generally positive attitude toward menopause was seen in this sample. A fairly good knowledge base was also seen, although several areas of concern became evident. It was concluded that nursing attention should be directed toward improving the client's knowledge level, especially in lower income women.
