Ritalin administration had a marked effect on TD patients as observed by the increased amplitude, duration and distribution of pseudorhythmic bursts. Methylphenidate was found to evoke and enhance abnormal muscle activity in patients whose extrapyramidal motor system is already affected by neuroleptics.
