Due to the surrounding fat tissue, the best proof of plantaris tendon existence and diameter can be obtained on sections at the level of syndesmosis and ankle joint. This allows to avoid unnecessary incisions during plastic and reconstructive surgery using this tendon as an autologeous transplant.
