The Rho proteins directly interact with protein kinases, which may serve as downstream effector targets of the activated GTPase (Vincent et al., 1997). The Rho family proteins play a critical role in muscle differentiation by regulating the expression of the myogenin and MEF2 genes (Takano et al., 1998).
